We’re finally shifting into spring here with the return of outdoor events as the sun rises on a busy season. The pace picked up this past month with one of Boston’s biggest events, the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Let’s recap March 2024!
Back to the Roads!
In honor of International Women’s Day, registration for October’s Boston 10K for Women® opened on March 8. To help celebrate, we teamed up with race sponsor REI and race charity Dignity Matters for a group run on March 9. The Opening Run traversed the picturesque Emerald Necklace Park System, with runners of all backgrounds enjoying three shared miles. The race returns for its 48th running on October 12, 2024, and is the longest-running all-women’s sporting event in New England.
Feeling Lucky!
For the second time, we helped orchestrate the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade! We guided nearly 4,000 parade participants from 148 groups across the parade route on March 17 with one million spectators along the way! The route encompasses 3.8 miles and months of meetings with public safety agencies and community groups. In recent years, Conventures has helped the parade organizers increase infrastructure, portable toilets, signage, and sponsorship for this beloved event.
Again this year, Conventures aided in organizing the St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast! The breakfast took place the morning of the parade and was held at the Ironworkers Local 7 Hall in South Boston. We were proud to assist with the event’s many details, though we cannot claim any credit for the event’s jokes.
Disrupting Poverty Conference
On March 24–28, Economic Mobility Pathways (EMPath) held its two-day public conference, and two-day pre-conference member convening. This conference gathered nearly 400 people and covered a range of topics such as affordable housing, asset building, guaranteed income, and eliminating the racial wealth gap. Conventures orchestrated months of pre-conference planning, marketing and promotion for the event, and every detail of the event management.
