Meet Conventures! Part of an ongoing blog series to introduce you to all the great people who make up our team. We hope you enjoy this opportunity to get to know us a bit better.

Assistant Account Coordinator, Marketing and Communications

Hometown: Winston-Salem, NC
Years at Conventures: 1 year and some change

Chandler enjoying a turkey leg snackWhen did you start working here? And B.C. (Before Conventures) — work, school?
I started working at Conventures in January 2024 as an intern! Before Conventures, I graduated college in 2020 and lived in NC for two years. I had a variety of positions, including working as a teaching assistant, social media manager, recruiter, and even a grocery store clerk. I started working remotely at a startup and moved back up to Boston in 2022. I later joined Conventures and became full-time in September 2024. Fun fact: I got my internship by reaching out through LinkedIn!

Most important skill you’ve learned working at Conventures?
Learning how to delegate! As someone who has usually worked alone or had someone else in charge, it was a challenge for me to learn how not to do everything myself and communicate with others about tasks.

What’s one thing you’ve learned about yourself while working at Conventures?
I learned how much I enjoy seeing people come together! Recently, I helped organize an event and one of the attendees told me how happy they were they could attend. That moment made me feel so proud and it’s something I’ll always carry with me.

This is less positive, but I also learned I lose things so easily when I’m distracted! After enduring a few frantic searches at some events last year, one of my resolutions was to learn not to put stuff down in random places.

Chandler and friend at the Boston 10K for WomenWhat’s your number-one, must-have item at all events?
Portable charger! As someone who has been in a few stressful situations with a dead phone, it always pays to have your phone at 20% at least.

What’s your biggest irrational phobia?
My biggest fear is being buried alive, but I think that’s a natural impulse. My most irrational fear probably is being trapped by moving elevator doors à la Final Destination. While I could avoid this fate by exclusively taking the stairs, I’m unfortunately too lazy for that.

Which famous actor would play you in a movie?
I’ve always considered this question but after seeing the trailer for a recent biopic that had someone portrayed as a monkey, I think I want a CGI animal to play me! Imagine an anthropomorphic owl or octopus with my glasses and hair. I would cast Ayo Edebiri to voice my animal-self.

Baby ChandlerWhat would be your first question after waking up from being cryogenically frozen for 100 years?
“Where can I get a matcha latte?”

Do you have a favorite quote or mantra that you live by?
“It costs a lot of money to look this cheap.” —Dolly Parton

What fictional universe would you most like to live in?
I have always wanted to be teleported into a musical! If I had to choose just one, I would say Singin’ in the Rain because I would give up my left kidney to see Gene Kelly perform in person. If I can’t live in a musical due to my subpar singing skills, then I wouldn’t mind existing in the animated Spider-Verse films and living in a universe where everyone is Claymation.

And finally, give us one of your pre-event hype up songs.
Lately, I’ve been obsessed with a K-pop group called P1Harmony! I saw them live last year when their tour came to Boston, and now I listen to their music all the time. If I had to choose one hype up song from them, I’d have to go with “Back Down.”
